Pneumococcal Immunisation
The pneumococcal vaccine protects against serious and potentially fatal pneumococcal infections.
It's also known as the pneumonia vaccine.
Some groups of people are at higher risk of serious illness and are advised to have the vaccine:
- Babies (2 doses - 12 weeks & 1 year)
- Adults over 65 (single, one-off vaccine)
- Children & adults with certain long term health conditions, such as heart/kidney/COPD (not an exhaustive list)
